State Senate Bill 436 March 12, 2015 Indiana Manufacturers Association IMA continues to work on the issue of real property assssment in SB 436 brought on by the IBTR decision in Meijer v. Marion County Assessor that recognized the sale of vacant property as a comparable sale of market-valuation purpose. When the bil is considered in the House, a much more skeptical view of the changes is expected, as legislators continue to learn of the dramatic negative consequences a shift away from market value would have on business investment. IMA supports removing industrial property from the bill entirely. |
